The key to successful product development starts with concept design. Taking an idea beyond the concept sketch to a final approved design requires a detailed assessment of the key elements required throughout the development project. Materials, environmental issues, manufacturing processes, tooling considerations, budgets, distribution, packaging, cosmetics, and functionality are among the many issues to consider in mapping of the concept development program. Creating clear visualizations, either conventional 2D graphics or 3D solid model imaging, of various rough concepts are then presented for the customer’s review and comments. From this rough concept review a final concept is created and submitted for the customer’s approval. The final concept is the cornerstone in the development of the project.
